Art Lessons

Multimedia Art Classes for Children

My goal is to create a stimulating and creative environment in which children explore the visual world around them through the media of graphite, colored pencils, collage, tempera, and watercolor. Instruction in drawing and painting will be given, and other artists' works appreciated. Renée is a professional artist, Montessori director/teacher for 32 years, art project leader for children 8-18 years old in 4-H, and instructor of private and group art classes for all ages.

1. Classes are $10 for each one hour class, paid in full at the beginning of the six week session of classes. In addition, there will be a $30 material fee due at the beginning of each session of classes.

2. Children need to be at least 5 years old. Two separate classes will be taught: one for 5-8 year olds and one for 9-12 year olds.

3. Siblings receive a 10% discount for classes taken concurrently.

4. Please call in advance if a lesson needs to be cancelled. Up to one lesson a session may be credited to the next session of classes.

5. Lessons are given on a mutually beneficial basis and can be terminated by student or teacher at any time.

Classes for Teens and Adults

Classes in beginning and intermediate drawing and watercolor painting will be given during the year in six week sessions on Saturdays from 10:00-11:30. Classes are $20 each, and may be paid for in advance or on the day of the class. Although the greatest benefit will be attained by attending all the classes, I realize we have busy schedules, and sometimes it is necessary to miss a class. One class per six week session may be skipped without payment.

No previous knowledge or experience is needed to take the beginning drawing or watercolor painting class. It would be advisable to take the beginning class or have equivalent knowledge before taking an intermediate class. In drawing class, you will discover your “inner artist” through the media of graphite, charcoal, conté crayon, and pastels.

It is a good idea to have taken some kind of drawing class before taking watercolor painting. We will be exploring various watercolor techniques and subjects. A materials list will be provided before the class session begins so that you will have the materials needed to practice at home between classes.

Lessons are given on a mutually beneficial basis and can be terminated by student or teacher at any time.
